VK 981(RH) is the state of the art Smart tobacco curing control .
VK 981(RH) is our latest tobacco curing control based on the philosophy of our classical best seller VK 981(A) with a dozen of new features added.
It is the ideal control for all tobacco curing barns and biomass fired barns (hot water tobacco barns and barns equipped with burners firing wood pellets) since it controls the supply of heat progressively through an analog port besides the classical on-off relay.
Heat Control ( Burner or Hot water servovalve) :
VK 981(RH) like the classic VK 981(A) ,controls Heat (Dry Bulb temperature ,Dry Bulb.Temperature advance and ΔΤ ( D.B. temp.difference between top & bottom of the barn caused by water evaporating from leaves ) through 2 dry D.B. temperature sensors ,one placed under the lower tobacco (supply air plenum) and the other above the upper tobacco mass in the barn (return air plenum) .
VK 981(RH) besides an On-off relay to control burner’s firing is equipped with an analog(progressive) port for heat designed to control a progressive hot water valve or a progressive pellet burner.
This progressive heat operation makes the control ideal for biomass firing barns where the hot water supply in the barn’s heating coil or the operation of the pellet burner can be ideally smooth ensuring a totally linear Dry bulb temperature increase during curing.
Humidity control (Fresh air intake damper Control ):
Damper operation is controlled by a progressive (analog) 24 V servomotor taking order from:
either a Dry Relative humidity sensor , or a Wet bulb wet sensor , or both .
VK 981(RH) controls humidity with either the Wet bulb or the dry Relative humidity or both and displays both W.B. temperature and RH% humidity. Relative Humidity % dry sensor
VV RH % sensor used on the above Curing controls and on the Interface is a state of the art reliable & accurate humidity sensor with ~2 % accuracy and a condensation filter built in, resisting temperatures up to 185°F .

Ventobacco’s Smart curing controls are equipped with a data port allowing data transfer either through wires or wirelessly to a PC.
Curing data can be accessed through cellular phone or through the Internet from any place in the world.
Operator can be alerted with email messages for curing alerts.
VK 981 (RH) version includes the following specs:
– Automatic detection of W.B.(with wet wick) or dry RH% sensor .
– up to 4 Sensors (high resolution 18 bits – 262.143 steps) .
(3 or 2 Temperature sensors + 1 dry RH% sensor )
– 2 Analog( progressive) exits – ( for a progressive Damper & a progressive Hot water valve or Burner )
– 3 On-off Relays – 1 main for Burner , 1 auxiliary for sprayer , 1 auxiliary for alarms
-2 (Block) alarm inputs to transmit to the monitoring P.C. blocks(malfunctions) of barn’s fan and burner’s (or other connected device’s) malfunction.
– an RS-485 data port for HUB (wired) or WIRELESS data transmission
– a USB port for P/C communication and diagnostic option access.
& optional connection of a barn Autoshut down relay device triggering the barn’s main relay when curing is over.
– control’s FIRMWARE (software) can easily be upgraded through the usb port .
Operator can read curing data ,he can down load the curing data & graphs even wirelessly ,he can access the curing site through Internet or smart phone and he can be alerted for curing or barn alerts , on his smartphone or tablet with sms messages or voice calls and with emails .

Relative humidity -Wet bulb Interface WB-012
An RH % interface is also available to retrofit the classic VK 981(A) & certain Honeywell ™ controls from W.B. wet sensors to dry RH% sensors.
WB-012 RH% interface is designed to retrofit the VK 981(A) & Honeywell ™T775M2048 controls which are measuring Wet bulb temperature with a wet wick sensor to dry Relative humidity sensor .
WB-012 RH% Interface includes an RH% display and a dry RH% sensor .
The interface can be connected through a 2 wire cable on the old control’s W.B terminals and retrofits the old W.B. Wet wick sensor to dry Relative humidity sensor.
The controls retrofitted with the VV RH Interface are now showing the RH % on interface’s display and the Wet bulb temp. on the control’s display.
They keep controlling the damper servomotor’s operation through the W.B. control .
