VCU 2K is a complete autonomous Air Furnace with all Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger for Indirect Fuel Combustion in tobacco curing barns with pressure burner i.e.:
Exchaust Fumes thrown outside the air flow (the barn) through the chimney.
VCU 2K is specially designed to fit in all U.S. make Tobacco Curing barns after taking out the old furnace by adding some “adaptors" to fit in the old structure.
In most of the cases the old barn’s fresh air intake dampers remain the same VCU’s 2K design is the result of 45 years Heat Exchanger Constructing experience of which 20 years on Curing with many thousands Indirect Fired Heat Exchangers, all around the world.
VCU-2K is designed to ensure Efficient Curing practicaly in the same Time margin with the same Fuel Consumption as with the Direct Fired tobacco curing Barns.
VCU consists of :
THE FAN SECTION (at the lower part) made with galvanised steel is designed so the protruding motor base with motor enters in barn’s lower furnace hole without any modifications.
The Fan Section is equipped with a direct driven Axial Airfoil High Efficiency Impeller designed to deliver large amounts of air with enough pressure to overcome Heat Exchanger’s extra resistance to the air flow.
The Airfoil Impeller with adjustable pitch blades is dynamically balanced for smooth operation at 1750 rpm with the highest possible efficiency to secure maximum fan’s performance with as low noise level as possible.
Special care has been taken to impeller’s blades design, so VCU’s fan delivers necessary amounts of air to cure a barn in the same time margin, with the same motor hp as with the direct fired furnaces.
Fan’s motor is single or 3 phase 7,5 hp for the 8 box barns or 10 hp for the 10 box barns.
Motor is delivered upon request.
Note : When changing a direct fired barn to an Indirect Fired barn, the old motor can be mounted on the VCU and save the cost of a new motor.
THE HEATING SECTION (at VCU’s upper part) consisting of :
The pressure burner firing in HeXe®’s combustion chamber directs the hot gases through a group of flattened smoke tubes.
Gases travel through the smoke tubes to the chimney’s collector before getting out to the atmosphere through the chimney.
The air circulating around HeXe® gets hot by cooling down all Heat Exchange surface.
Special care has been taken to Heat Exchanger’s design and material selection so VCU’s durability and performance are uncomperable.
The Insulated Box (HeXe®’s outside shell) is all built with galvanised steel tube frame and 1" thick sandwich insulating foam panels covered on both sides with galvanised steel sheets.
– The Chimney in galvanised steel, directs the combustion gases outside the barn
– The burner is 110V, 60Hz single phase+Neutral, firing LPG or Natural Gas or Fuel Oil.
It is Forced Draught Burner of the latest technology equipped with 1" Operating and Safety valves, Spark Ignition, Air pressostat, Gas pressostat and Electronic Control
Burner’s capacity is regulated according to Barn’s size.
It is designed to secure the maximum combustion efficiency with minimum NOx emmission to the atmosphere.
It has been tested for many years, continuously updated, taking particular care of the environment aggravation.
The use of high quality (recyclable) material and the constant research on the combustion have allowed our VCU to reach excellent efficiency, with remarkably low fuel consumption.
VCU’s Fuel consumption is practically the same with Direct Fired Barn’s consumption.
Note : Direct Gas Firing gives water vapors in the barn, so greater ventilation is required to drive the extra humidity out of the barn mainly during Leaf & Stem Drying phase.
Rejecting more hot air to the atmosphere increases fuel consumption, as higher capacity burner is required for the extra ventilation and Curing efficiency drops.
VCU’s Heat Exchanger exhausting all combustion products (vapors too) outside the barn, heats the air sufficiently with less btus resulting higher Curing Efficiency.
Curing technique with VCU is practically the same with Direct Fired Curing.
VCU can be ordered without Controls (when existing controls are operational) or with :
a) Ventobacco V2K Digital Dry bulb controller with Temperature Advance & 2 sensors (Lower-Upper temperature) or
b) Ventobacco VK 981 Curing Computer Fully Programmable with Dry bulb, Wet bulb, Temperature Advance, dT, and servomotor for fresh air (intake) damper.
Fresh air (Intake) damper
Can be ordered separately if the existing dampers on the old barns cannot remain when installing the VCU.
Note : Several installation proposals for all U.S. make barns help installer get the basic idea of different ways the VCU can fit in different make barns.
